The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said a 43-year-old Kevil man was arrested after an investigation into missing tools at James Marine on Clark’s River Road in McCracken County. The investigation began Oct. 15, 2026, after the business reported about $9,000 worth of high-end tools missing, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said investigators determined that Michael Lane had been fired from James Marine and allegedly entered the business’s shop a couple of days later and took several tools.
On Oct. 20, detectives and deputies from the McCracken and Ballard county sheriff’s offices served a search warrant at Lane’s residence in Lovelaceville, the agency said. Several tools reported stolen were found and identified by James Marine personnel, according to the release. The sheriff’s office said a large shop sign for Tennessee Valley Towing, also reported stolen, was among the items recovered.
Lane was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, the sheriff’s office said. He was being held at the Ballard County Jail and will serve his charges in McCracken County, according to the release.
